Chaga is an amazing herb that only grows in cold climates, and is most potent when exposed to temperatures under -40°C. Siberian Chaga is the most powerful antioxidant in its class, and has the highest antioxidant concentration of any known natural food. Chaga grows in Siberia, Korea, Canada, the Northern US and parts of the Carolina mountains. The health-giving potential of Siberian chaga is easy for science to understand - it is one of the most powerful, concentrated antioxidants known. Antioxidants improve health and slow aging because, as the National Cancer Institute explains it: "Antioxidants protect cells from damage caused by unstable molecules known as free radicals." Chaga is the heavyweight champion of anti-oxidants, far outstripping pomegranates, acai berries or blueberries, and the cold Siberian climate produces the most potent chaga in the world.

But, how do you know how much of these antioxidants to take? Scientists developed something called an ORAC scale, which is a standard recommended by USDA to measure antioxidant capacity. ORAC stands for Oxygen Radical Absorbent Capacity, or, in other words, the strength with which a given substance wipes out free radicals. Obviously, the higher the ORAC score, the more free radicals that certain substance can destroy.
The FDA recommends that people consume between 4 to 13 ORAC units a day. Keep in mind that the more active you are, the higher the requirement for antioxidants in your body (contrary to popular belief, physical exercise actually increases the amount of free radicals in your body, so you should be consuming plenty of foods and drinks rich in antioxidants especially if you work out). Those who smoke or drink should increase their antioxidant intake well above the recommended dose.

Chaga has the highest ORAC score ever recorded in any natural food! Baikal Herbs powdered Chaga extract has 153,200 ORAC units per 100 gram according to Brunswick Labs. Compared with other foods rich in antioxidants, such as blueberries or pomegranate Chaga is much higher in antioxidants, meaning that its capacity to wipe out free radicals is much stronger.

The color of the extract tells about the content of important curing substances such as Chromogenic complex(S.O.D.). The more Chromogenic complex content, the darker is the extract. Expressively light brown extracts contain not more than 35% of S.O.D, whereas the extract of our production has more than 51% of S.O.D. and is either dark brown or almost black in appearance.

However, here we would like to point out, that if chaga extract contains a high number of polysahharrides its solubility in water may worsen which is not the defect in any way but an opposite: high quantity of carbohidrates(polysahhirrides) makes the extract even more healthy but less soluble. The matter is that it is impossible to secure 100% color/solubility consistancy of the extract because our extract is made of only natural chaga mushroom which is wild grown and every single mushroom has various content of Chromogenic complex and polysahharrides that effecst the physical properties of the extract. Baikal Herbs DO NOT add any kind of chemicals or else to make the extract look more attractive...Therefore, the color and solubility of the extract may vary a little bit from order to order...Without being inferior in quality in any way!
